Melbourne Metro Rail Authority: Metro Tunnel
About the Metro Tunnel
The Metro Tunnel will take Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city, freeing up space in the city loop to ensure less congested train lines in and out of the city. The Metro Tunnel project is currently underway, due for completion by 2025.
As one of Melbourne Metro Rail Authority’s biggest ever rail infrastructure projects, safe and efficient delivery of hydro excavation, or non-destructive digging, underground asset location and vacuum loading, is essential to the successful construction of the tunnel and five new city stations required to ease major congestion for commuters travelling to and from Melbourne CBD.
Bartlett’s are engaged to provide hydro-excavation and vacuum loading services to help relocate power, drainage, gas, water and telecommunications services. This will clear the alignment for tunnel works to commence, enabling the construction of twin, nine-kilometer tunnels delivering new dedicated pathways through to the heart of Melbourne city.
Bartlett’s Environmental successfully provided services within the time-frame, using our 24/7 delivery model to complete the required hydro-excavation and vacuuming loading works both day and night, resulting in the commencement of further works as planned ensuing a smooth time line for the infrastructure development for the Melbourne Metro Rail Authority.
